This page explains how ChristianNames.org handles data. It is written in plain English for readers, not as a substitute for legal advice.
Analytics
ChristianNames.org uses Google Analytics (Google Analytics 4) to understand broad site usage, such as which pages are visited and whether the site works well on common devices. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser (for example _ga) and processes usage data, including an approximate location derived from your IP address, on Google's infrastructure.
The goal is product improvement, not profiling individual readers. We do not use analytics to build a personal naming profile, and we do not sell personal data. You can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser opt-out add-on or your browser's cookie controls. If you clear or block cookies, the site still works normally.
Hosting and security logs
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Workers Static Assets. Like most web infrastructure providers, Cloudflare may process technical request information to deliver pages, secure the service, prevent abuse, and provide operational logs. These technical records are different from account profiles or marketing lists.
Those logs help keep the site reliable. They are not used to infer sensitive family, religious, or naming details about individual readers.
Personal data
The site does not sell personal data. It does not collect accounts, comments, payments, or personal profiles.
Searches are ordinary site interactions. They are not used to build a personal naming profile. If a future feature asks for an email address or another personal detail, the form will explain why that information is needed.
Christian Name Checker
The name checker runs entirely in your browser against our published list of researched names. It does not require an account, does not store what you type, and does not record or profile religious affiliation. When a name is not found, we do not keep the text you entered.
Saved names
The saved-name feature is a local shortlist for browsing. Saved names stay on your device, not synced to an account or stored on our servers. Clearing browser storage will remove the shortlist.
Email updates and affiliate links
The site does not currently send email updates or use affiliate links. If we add either, email signup will be explicit and include an unsubscribe link, and affiliate links will be disclosed near the relevant content. We update this notice before any new feature changes how data is collected.
Contact and corrections
If a privacy explanation is unclear or inaccurate, we update it. To report an error anywhere on the site, see the corrections page.
Children and families
ChristianNames.org is read by parents and families, but it is not designed to collect information from children. The site does not include features that ask children to submit personal details, create accounts, or publish comments.
Any family-oriented interactive feature gets a privacy review before going live, so privacy expectations stay clear and proportionate to what the feature does.
Data minimization
The privacy baseline is simple: collect as little as possible for the feature to work. A reference site about names does not need sensitive family details, birth information, religious affiliation, or account profiles to serve useful content.
